Location:
Oudrif is situated on the banks of the unspoilt Doring River in the foothills of the Cederberg, a transition zone between Cederberg, Namaqualand, Succulent Karoo and Mountain Renosterveld regions. This location means that we are blessed with fauna, and especially flora, unique to the area, thus spring brings a diverse and brilliant display of wild flowers
We are blessed with an abundance of natural and historical attractions.
This area is one of the largest open air art galleries anywhere, the san rock art dates up to approximately 5000 years old, there are also stone artefacts going back 100 000 years and fossils going back 400 million years. Local legend has it that when God was making the earth he had all the flower seed in one pocket and accidentally let it fall out over Namaqualand. During spring we play host to the largest wild flower display in the world. No light pollution and clear air also makes Oudrif ideal for stargazing and simply relaxing in utter peace.
